CTSCC YEAR IN REVIEW FOR 2009

Closing Thoughts from 2009 Connecticut Chair
2009 was a challenging year for our industry however it was a
successful year for the CT SCC. The first half of my Chair we
introduced Dr. Lee, Joseph Dallal and Fernando Machado, then finished
strong with Krista Presti and Nicholas Perricone MD.
In between our monthly meetings we began a membership drive in the
lobby of Unilever that got the word out about the SCC, signed up
members and increased attendance to our meetings. Also we
successfully accomplished the first annual golf outing at Great River.
We will be back there again in April 2010 by popular demand.
Hopefully I will improve my golf game enough that maybe one of my
shots will be played.
For me our Scientific Seminar about the “Far East Explosion” was
tremendous. The information presented was so useful that it changed
the way I think about the Chinese market. As a manufacturer of
cosmetic raw materials these lectures opened the door for the
refinement of product information specific to the needs of the Chinese
consumer based on geographical regions, culture and populations.
Over the course of my Chair I have had the pleasure of meeting many
new and established members of the SCC. I have made a point to
promote the benefits of membership while enjoying these events.
This society embraces the stimulation of ideas, provokes discussion
and expands our horizons. All of which I believe the Connecticut SCC
has delivered this year.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible board
that has come together over the past few years. One member in
particular, Phillip Minor who recently retired will be greatly missed.
Not just for his work with the SCC but his wisdom about this
organization and guidance. I have really enjoyed my time as Chair
and look forward to the year that I might run again.
Best Regards,
Steven Puleo
